June 2021 Compliance Alert 1

I have attached the first of what will likely be two 2K21 Alerts for the month of June. This Alert is based on DUA preliminary employer guidance released in connection with H.3702. The Alert is intended to make clients aware of the new, temporary law.

Last week the MA legislature enacted, and Governor Baker signed, legislation (H.3702) requiring employers to provide emergency paid sick time in MA for COVID-19 related absences. The new law is a temporary measure effective as of last Friday, May 28, 2021 and ending on the earlier of September 30, 2021, or the exhaustion of $75 million in program funds.
