Breaking New Alert - Tufts Health Plan, Harvard Pilgrim Health Care Announce Plan for Merger

On Wednesday this week, two of Massachusetts' larger health insurers, Tufts Health Plan and Harvard Pilgrim Health Care announced plans to combine their two organizations.  This new health insurance entity, if approved by regulartors, would provide health insurance coverage to over 2 million members in Massachusetts, Maine, Connecticut, New Hampshire and Rhode Island.

The two companies have yet to announce many details such as the new company name or headquarters, and they will continue to operate independently while the details and final state and federal approvals are finanlized.  

BBI will follow this merger process and bring details on how it will effect our customers.   We expect that the new organization will make member satisfaction a high priority as both organizations have been recognized for their excellent customer service.
